Gold, Gold Filled, Rolled Gold Most of the pieces you find here are either gold, gold filled, or rolled gold. Back in the day, manufactures came up with ways for the masses to have the beautiful look and fell of fine gold pieces. Because gold was as preciouses then as it is now, the invented the use of gold filled, real gold mixed with other metals, and rolled gold, where a metal was placed between very thin sheets of gold. Both of these techniques produced some stunning pieces of vintage jewelry.
Although the American Standard for gold is 10k and above, vintage pieces of jewelry and European pieces are some times made with 6k to 9k. Those pieces will be included in this section along with the karat of the piece. |
