This beautiful Urie Mandle Brooch Pin Brunialti Book Piece is unsigned but can be found in "American Costume Jewelry 1935 - 1950" Carla & Roberto Brunialti, Pages 239 & 240. Designed by Murray Slater Design Patent 146,950 in 1947 for the Urie F. Mandle Co. (as found on the Jim Katz Design Patent site).
It is fabulously done in a gold tone heavy metal with small clear pave rhinestone accents & large invisibly set rhinestones in blue, red, purple, green & yellow. The Scabbard and Dagger can be separated and worn as a chatelaine. Both the dagger and sheath have pin assemblies.
The sword alone measures 3 3/4" tall & 1 1/2" wide. The sheath measures 2 3/4" tall. When worn together the sword & sheath measure an astounding 4" tall. The chatelaine double chain measures 6 1/2" long.
This brooch is in overall good condition with some dullness to the pave rhinestones & some wear showing both to the colored rhinestones & the metal, but it is slight. |
